Fiona Southall I was born, brought up and educated in Oldham and have worked in a number of Oldham schools since 1999, as primary and secondary SENCO. I have been lead teacher in two secondary ASC resourced provisions in Oldham. I was also Senior Specialist Advisory Teacher in the local authority ASC team in neighbouring Rochdale. I have a a PGCE, a Postgraduate Diploma in Dyslexia/SpLD, a Postgraduate Diploma in ASC, the NASENCO Award and the Certificate of Competence in Educational Testing. I am a full member of PATOSS (Professional Association of Teachers Of Students with Specific learning difficulties). I currently work as a Specialist 1:1 Tutor and Mentor for university students in receipt of Disabled Students’ Allowance. Whilst working in the Oldham schools I was fortunate enough to work in partnership with POINT on many occasions to co-produce the very best outcomes for students and families. I am passionate about inclusion and feel that my experience over 26 years as a SEN teacher, advisory teacher and SENCO will support the work of POINT in their role of giving children, young people, parents and carers a voice and ensuring that schools and FE providers fulfil their statutory responsibilities. It is a privilege to be invited to serve as a trustee, having seen at first hand the invaluable support provided by POINT and their understanding of the local and national context for students with SEND.
