I joined POINT initially to volunteer with the increasing workload and I feel privileged to be invited to join the Board of such a worthwhile charity.

Being a strong  believer in the power of family values and caring for others has enabled me to be a successful ‘ mother , sister , aunt and friend ‘ to a wide group of people. My life has been dedicated in the main to my family and in recent years as my own children have matured I have taken special interest in the great work that POINT continue to deliver. I regularly attend and support POINT’s joint family session with MAHDLO and have seen great delight in seeing how this has developed  in recent years.

In addition,  I frequently offer respite to my sister and her husband who have a son with additional needs. I welcome the chance to look after him enabling my sister and family to have breaks and holidays. Having a nephew with additional needs has made me aware of all the challenges , both emotionally and physically, that the families and carers of young people with additional needs face daily.

I am really looking forward to playing a bigger role at POINT to ensure that families of children and young people with additional needs and disabilities can access Information, Advice and Support to meet their individual needs.
