Richard Scarborough I have worked for Local Authorities for over twenty years starting initially in Oldham as a support worker supporting adults with learning disabilities. Since then I have also worked for Tameside and Manchester covering a range of services including homelessness and public health and I currently commission sexual health services. One thing that links all of these roles has been tackling discrimination and stigma that are at the heart of inequality and poorer outcomes. I believe that the third sector are essential in providing public services that are connected to the people they serve. Organisations like POINT that are led and managed by their members and co-produce solutions are the ones that make the most difference. It is therefore a privilege to be invited to serve as a trustee for POINT, a charity that I have known about for many years and having seen the invaluable support they give to families.
