SEN Law Workshops are returning in January 2022.

Due to their popularity last year, we are delighted to be offering the following sessions which will be delivered virtually by Claire Jackson from SENETA.  (Special Educational Needs Expert Training and Advocacy Ltd.)  Claire has 19 years experience of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Please see below for a brief overview of the sessions:

  • Exclusions and Children/Young People out of Education - Thursday 27th January 11.30am - 2.30pm

This 3 hour session has been designed for parent/carers who want to know more about exclusion and children out of education for other reasons and their rights. The aim of the course is to provide attendees who have children/young people with SEND with an introduction to the relevant parts of the law and guidance concerning exclusion and children out of education due to illness or other reasons. 

  • Post 16 - What Happens Next? - Thursday 10th February 10am -1pm

This 3 hour session has been designed for parent/carers who want to know more about rights and options for post 16 education and training where the child or young person has an EHC plan. The aim of the course is to provide attendees with an introduction to the relevant parts of the SEND legal framework covering post 16.
  • Making Sense of SEN Law - Thursday 17th February 6pm - 8.30pm

This 2.5 hour session has been specifically designed for parents/carers who want a 'rights based' insight into the SEND framework.  The aim of the course if to provide attendees with an introduction to the relevant parts of the SEND Legal framework.

  • EHC Needs Assessments and EHC Plans - Tuesday 22nd February 12noon - 3pm

This 3 hour session covers everything you need to know about the EHC needs assessments and EHC plans.  The aim of the course is to provide attendees who are thinking about requested and EHC needs assessment or who are going through the assessment and/or draft plan process with a comprehensive look at the SEND legal framework relevant to assessments and EHC plans.

  • Annual Reviews, Law, Procedure and Practice - Tuesday 8th March 5pm - 8pm

This 3 hour session covers everything you need to know about annual review process. The aim of the course is to provide attendees who have children/young people with EHC plans a comprehensive look at the relevant parts of the SEND legal framework covering annual review.
